Catching fireflies & the lucky winners are...

Sea side rocker, Cuba
The picture above shows a rocking chair on the immaculate front porch of a humble Cuban home, sea-side, in a small village near Holguin in Cuba. We are fresh from our fish lunch at a cafe right next door, tukola & rum in hand, and armed with a point and shoot Olympus. I befriended a small girl and gave her some candy, which by the way is acceptable and normal in Cuba. The children love to be given treats. I thought of this memory today, as we booked our next adventure to the Dominican Republic. We leave in 11 days. Yes!!!
This weekend we spent in Sherkston Beach, and celebrated Canada Day!! Our beloved country is 141 years old. We celebrate each July 1st, without fail. We sat by a fire, talking and laughing, and watching fireflies. I hadn't seen fireflies since I was a child, and I was so enchanted. I just adore the magical little creatures!
Canada is a glorious, and beautiful country. Very diverse. Geographically speaking we have it all, mountains, beaches, plains, lakes, rivers (I've rafted the white waters of the Ottawa river, what a thrill!!!) and more. We have diverse culture, very proud of being a bilingual nation, both French and English as our National languages. We have amazing food, museums, theatre, shopping, and fantastic dance clubs!!! You can sail, climb, hike and ride this gorgeous landscape. (Can you tell I am a proud Canadian?) Do visit us here, especially the luscious and totally fun city of Toronto, you won't be disappointed. Let me know if you are planning a visit, I would be more than pleased to show you around!!!
Using the very savvy number picker thingie on the internet, the winners of my "Mad Tea Party of the Costume Variety" draws are; #36 Graciel at Evenstar Art has won a print from my teeny etsy store, and #33 Debbie Egizio of Debbie Egizio's Creatively Inspired Blog !!! has won the Intuitive Healing Deck. Yippee!!! What a fun party. I missed out on visiting most of you due to my hectic schedule...but I'll be going back to visit the posts you did and catch up on all the fun. I wouldn't want to miss it!!!

I am glad you had a wonderful Canada day my friend. I can't wait to visit Canada. Gilly can I purchase that photo from you? I had two rockers at my home, similar to that one, growing up in Cuba. I have a knot in my throat just looking at it.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation in the Dominican Republic. It is a wonderful place full of beautiful, caring, people.

Congratulations baby Canada :) It is indeed a place with a lot to effort and such great attitude. But don't forget that a part of you comes from a place that has been a country since 1143. ;)

Gill those are assets many a country would envy. Oh, Canada! But its greatest treasure is Canadians - at least the ones I know.

Who needs the Dominican Republic... Sherkston Beach is beautiful! (Oh yeah... palm trees.) Does your flight have a stopover in Fort Myers? , -)
