Chirping birds and bridal veils.

bridal veil~, originally uploaded by gillian's ✩indigo blue✩.

We went to the park! We swung on swings! We slid on slides! We chased sticks and lay down in the green green grass. We wished on a star, even though it was mid-day. We asked if we could be beautiful brides this year. Then we sent it off to the Universe for approval. The office of God is always open, so we may expect an off-hours answer to that question, if we are listening.

Today there were also regrets. Dashed hopes. Let downs. Mixed in with that we were elated, happy and completely PROUD. So all in all, a pretty human day was had by all.

I am thinking of those I haven't visited, and no, not blogs. I'm thinking of fleshy folks in my life that need me, and I haven't been there. I'm sending another wish off into the great unknown that I may find peace with decisions I've made in my life. And another that an upcoming journey with two fantastico people goes smoothly and we have the most fun you could possibly have in five days :)

For all of you I wish Andrea Bocelli could sing you all to sleep, that you would all own a Du Buh Du doll (shop update tomorrow people!) and that H1N1 wouldn't stalk your fears like a black cloud.

A kiss on the cheek, for a good night's sleep to all. xox {And a wee tuck in too. For it's great to be tucked in, isn't it?}

When you wish upon a star, (yes, I'm humming the song too...) makes no difference who you are....what do YOU wish for?

The Dominican Republic; A country perspective

the ebb & flow of the Caribbean breeze
The wind, an illusory yet existential necessity to assist us with our breathing. Which by the way, rapidly slows to accomodate the physical need for relaxation.

glorious foliage ~
Beauty reflecting upon itself. Transitory in nature, yet perfectly now. External beauty is fleeting; our appreciation of it, steadfast. Intrinsic beauty; eternal.

Punta Cana laundry line :)
Simplicity. Our illusory and existential friend helps us out yet again, drying the laundry on the line with the same enthusiasm it has for kissing us on the forehead some tropical hammock-swaying night.

Tobacco Flower~Dominican Republic
Ah, the many uses of tobacco. This flower it would seem, an avis rara amongst the Charters & Bali Shags.

freshly roasted chocolate~yes, thats right...can you smell it? freshly roasted and ground cocoa beans...

For the aficianado (yes, you), a depth-of-field capture I am particularly proud of, chocolate. In one of it's most sophomoric states of course, post-roast & grind. A bittersweet bride awaiting her final destination of marriage to both sugar & milk. It was during this particular safari, that our group learned of the ways of growing pineapples, mangoes and coffee beans. Of chocolate beginnings and cinnamon endings. Of crocodiles, crabs and constructs. A most interesting and colourful trip to say the very least. The above photo, is featured as one of many, in an article titled Enjoying thy chocolates...on NowPublic.com, click through for an interesting news article on one of our favourite articles, chocolate. Written by the people, for the people.

Glass bottom boat, Dominican

A glass bottomed boat. No, I didn't venture onto it. Just snapped from a distance. I loved the roof.

Last, but certainly not least (in this series anyways) I present to you, myself. This is what a vacation can do for the soul....

what a good holiday does for the spirit

...be it in the Dominican Republic or just your local public library with a hot cup of chai and a good book. I will post again soon, I have many more wonderful views to share with you all.

Ola, once again :)

Our plane, delayed.
We now leave at ten for the airport.
We fly, at 2:10 am.
D & K, if you are reading this, know your son is now going to arrive at 7 am Tuesday, instead of tonight at midnight.

So, another pina colada, por favor senorita.
And dos cerveza, por favor.
Because it is a long wait with TWO TIRED CHILDREN, when your plane is delayed~!~

Hang in there Sylvia, mommy will be home soon.

On the bright side, we had another entire day here in paradiso.

Senor, yo queiro vino dinto...PUH-LEASE!!!!

With love from the Dominican Republic,
